The DC Black Repertory Company and Rep, Inc. 40th Anniversary Planning Reunion Weekend
Alumni of The DC Black Repertory Theatre, the groundbreaking professional theater and training program which was formed in Washington 40 years ago is planning their first formal reunion since the dissolution of the organization in the late 1970's. The reunion is taking place the weekend of June 24-26 and will utilize spaces that are significant to the organization. Actor and Washington native Robert Hooks, who was also a cofounder of the Negro Ensemble Company, founded the theater in the early 1970's. He suspended a prolific acting career to create this company.
The kickoff event will be at The Multi-Media Training Institutes' Studio W at 628 W St NE on June 24, 2011 at 8:15 PM. (This will be an invitation only event) This evening will include tributes, videos, photomontages, performances from alumni members, and a general social hour that will allow members to reconnect after so many years.

Join MMTI and others for a round table discussion of opportunities coming to Ward 8 involving the largest federal construction job since the Pentagon in the 1940's. The $3.4 billion consolidation of Homeland Security's far-flung agencies into one campus is slated to create 16,000 direct construction jobs, involving at least 100 contractors over the next six years. Confirmed round table guests include Council Chair Kwame Brown, Council Member Harry Thomas from Ward 5, James Bunn, Chair of Congress Heights Main Street and Michael Rious Legislative Assistant for Economic Affairs for Ward 8 Councilman Marion Barry and Director of the Ward 8 Business Council.
The show will be moderated by veteran broadcaster, Del Walters and a student moderator. MMTI students will be camera persons and producers.The TV show taping will be held on Thursday June 2, 2011 at 7pm at StudioW, 628 W. St. NE, unfortunately the studio is filled to capacity but you can watch right here.

Mr. Browder is a renowned scholar who has lectured throughout the US, Africa, Europe, Japan, Mexico and the Caribbean on topics pertaining to African and African American history and culture.

Baye Services and MMTI presents Del Walters's The Jesus Seed
On Friday, March 11th at 7PM Multi-Media Training Institute and Baye Services will present Del Walters discussion of his new Book 'The Jesus Seed" at Studio W, 628 W St NE. 202-269-3629. Tickets can be purchased at the door and also here at www.mmtidc.org. For those of you who are out of town, you can also purchase tickets online to see the live steam at the same website. We will post the information shortly.
The Jesus Seed is a work of fiction and asked the question, what would happen if there truly were a second coming? It examines everything from the ethnicity of Christ, to whether it is possible for science to achieve what faith assumes. Featured in the book, which is a work of fiction, our own Senghor Baye, and Dorita Dixon. It is a very complex plot and examines our preconceived notions about everything from the rituals inside the Catholic Church, to the origins of Christianity itself.

Message to the People - African Genocide speaker Del Walters
We have a program on April 24, 2010 called "Message To The People / Genocide In Africa 1957...To The Present". It is hosted by Senghor Jawara Baye, President-General of UNIA-ACL and Baye Services and the featuring guest speaker will be Emmy-winning journalist, author and Truth Seeker, Del Walters.

Elmore Nickleberry is the subject of "I AM A MAN" a powerful documentary film about the courageous men who stood up during the sanitation workers strike in Memphis in 1968!

Upcoming events for February at MMTIDC!
We have something in store for you in February!
First up is a stage reading called The Eagle and the Lion and its based on the friendship between a pioneering black aviator, Col. Hubert F. Julian and the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie. It will be held at Studio W from Friday, February 19h at 8pm-9pm and Saturday, February 20 at 2pm-4pm.

Next up, as part of Black History Month, is a program called "Message to the People & Haiti Revealed," which featured speakers such as Senghor Jawara Baye, President-General of UNIA-ACL and Paul Pumphrey, President of Brothers & Sisters International. There wil be a music performance by Kim Bey and King Ziah. It will be held here at Studio W on February 28, starting at 3pm.

Message to the People & Haiti Revealed
MMTI in January: An Open House and a Movie at Studio W!
We're starting off the new year by inviting you to our house. Come to our Open House here at Studio W January 23, 2010 between 3pm and 6pm to see what we're all about and to see what we can offer to you as well! We are located at 628 W Street NE, Washington DC
Also on January 30, 2010 at 6:30 PM, right here on Studio W in partnership with The New York City Black Film Exhibitors Alliance, we will be showing a film called Harlem Mart 125: The American Dream. It's a movie that takes an introspective look at the changing face of the most well known African-American neighborhood, 125th street at Harlem, and brings the viewers on a historical journey that depicts its economic transition from the late 1960s to present day.
Plus many more activity will be going on for MTTI for the upcoming year, so come check this site out very often!

MMTI Staff and Youth Produces Video for Greater DC Cares 20th Anniversary Celebration
Multi-Media Training Institute’s produced a promotional video for Greater DC Cares on November 12, 2009. The celebration took place at the Kellogg Conference Center on the Campus of Gallaudet University. They honored 20 Emerging Lifelong and Leaders in Philanthropy, Volunteerism and Service.
MMTI End of Summer 09 Program Video
Here at MMTI we made a video presentation of the events that transpired this summer with the MMTI students. Sixteen students finished the summer learning about technical, theater, personal development, and self expression. The MMTI students partook in events such as Job Training, production of Hooked on Love, Talent Show, and the Michael Jackson Tribute. Congratulations to the MMTI students of Summer 2009!
